Devin Fitzpatrick Freshman Representative October 2nd 2020
Position Assessment: I have represented the freshman class as a role model and a freshman representative. I also have helped coordinate information with the freshman class through Instagram and Heja. Examples of the information we have coordinated is T-Shirt sales, online events, and deadlines through our social media account. I also have made sure that I have communicated and kept all of the other freshman representatives knowledgeable of situations and our status as a group. I believe I have partly spiritually grown and have also have come to appreciate life more than I did before leadership. What I still have to accomplish as a freshman representative is more spiritual growth, growth in professionalism, and overall growth as a team.
Professional Development: I have worked to develop professional skills through high school variously. Through school work, I have been developing professionally by learning great skills on how to make websites, a portfolio, and how to deal with the public. Through homework, I have achieved skills such as how to manage a social media account. I also have learned how to not let the small "stuff" get to me and to appreciate the "big" stuff in life. And finally, I have grown in my ability to work as a team and manage an event as a class. Through class discussion I have grown my abilities to think creatively outside the box(because of coronavirus), to work with the circumstances given, and to always look for positions where I can help.
Concerns/Change: What I would like to address this school year is my concerns about my abilities for next year. Next year or sophomore year we most likely will be coming back to school in person where we can do in-person activities. I am nervous that if I come back next year as whatever position, I will not have the knowledge and experience on how to manage the in-person activities the way sophomores should.
Positive Comment: I have two people that I would like to shoutout for their positive impact, and that is Kylee Brown and Spencer Redula. They have both have put in extra effort and have worked very hard this year to unite the freshman class. They also have worked very well with peers and have stepped up and been great leaders.
My Impact: How I have changed the world today is by trying to solve problems everywhere I see them. I love to help people and when I find solutions for people it makes me feel great and makes them feel great. An example of this is when the freshmen were short two t-shirts. When my head advisor spoke to me about this I got right to it and I communicated with my team and we evidently solved the problem. I also have impacted the world by having the mindset that every life matters. In my opinion, every life matters until proven otherwise. I never try to judge people off their relatives or anything they couldn't control, I try to judge them based on their actions. So I believe that by doing these things I am having a positive impact on the world.
ASB Report October and November
Devin Fitzpatrick Freshman Representative December 1 2020
Position Assessment: In October and November, I launched multiple projects with my fellow Freshman representatives. During October we did a lot of activities for Fall Fest. The other freshman representatives and I decorated a door to represent our topic Fall Fashion. After that, we launched the week of fall fest. The other leadership officers and I, all selected themes for the days of the week and dressed up accordingly to the theme. At the end of the week to finish it we had an in-person activity at the school called Trunk or Treat. The leadership classes decorated trucks to collaborate with our themes. The other freshman representatives and I decorated our truck and sold a couple of class T-shirts as well. During November we launched Dude be Nice. This was an event to appreciate a voted staff member that always puts in the extra work. We choose Mr. Perez and tried to make him feel as special as possible. The freshman representatives and I all made cards for Mr. Perez and gave them to him on the opening day. On the day of the event, Mr. Perez seemed surprised and happy.
Professional Development: I have worked on professional development through Leadership and the training we have gone through. I have developed good professional dress from leadership events and meetings. I also have developed better speaking skills through the events my head advisor is signing me up for.
Concerns/Change: I have concerns about what will happen if we shut down RHS again. I would be worried that some of my teachers wouldn’t adjust well to the immediate switch and didn’t plan to go back to zoom. I would also be worried about our leadership plans and how we have to adapt them to make them flexible to both distanced learning and hybrid learning.
Positive Comment: The person I have to shoutout for their positive impact is my ASB president, Nikki Nguyen. Nikki has done such a great job and adapted really well in distanced learning and has been a great leader to the freshman representatives and me. She has been very helpful and has helped me get through this school year successfully so far.
My Impact: I have changed the world today by spreading positivity and trying to be the best version of myself. I believe that over October and November I have worked really hard on improving my spirit and mental self and just have tried to be as positive as possible. This affects the world and my campus because I am a much better person to be around when I am like this.
ASB Report February and March
Devin Fitzpatrick Freshman Representative March 18 2021
Position Assessment: Over the past two months, I have experienced in-person high school learning for the first time. In February, we wrote letters to veterans along with electing officers for the next school year. We partnered with FFA to send letters shaped like hearts to veterans who have served for our country. But throughout February many of the Freshman Representatives were occupied with leadership applications. I personally made a campaign video, wrote a letter of character, and attended an interview for the leadership application process. In March we made paper clovers with notes on them for all of the students. We then hung them up on walls for the students to find and enjoy. I was not able to participate in the hanging of the clovers, but I was still able to support my classmates in the process. Throughout the rest of March, we mostly prepared for the launch of homecoming. The freshman class chose the theme of movies for our spirit day and we have a done a lot of work on that. We have placed orders for poster decorations, began choreographing a dance and have picked a song for it, and have made a plan for a fashion show. We still must launch homecoming and to do it we have to finish our poster, memorize our dance, and execute the fashion show.
Professional Development: I have developed as a professional the past two months through leadership applications, speeches, interviews, and preparing for my mock interview. In my leadership application, I had to make sure to keep professionalism in order to get the position I was pursuing. The officers of leadership were also required to recite a speech in which I had to dress professionally and act professionally. And of course, I had to go through procedures to prepare for my mock interview and I also went through a interview in my leadership application.
Concerns/Change: I was wondering when we should start preparing ourselves for our mock interview by studying the questions and job? I was also wondering if we have the dates for the mock interview yet?
Positive Comment The person that I want to recognize in this ASB report is my fellow classmate Jacob Curless. I sit next to Jacob in class and I would say that he has helped motivate me in times of doubt. I am very grateful that he helped in my decision on playing football because he made me believe in myself, and although I ended up not doing it, I still felt better about it. Jacob has been very helpful through the leadership application process as well and I’m thankful that he has been supportive throughout this school year.
My Impact: I have changed the world these past two months by becoming the RHS Sophomore Class Vice President and being a representative to my school and the world around me. I have given back and have tried to be the role model that inspires me. Work ethic and character are what I’ve tried to work on the most throughout these past two months and I will continue to polish these aspects.
