Devin Fitzpatrick Junior Vice President 1 September 2022 ASB Report September POSITION ASSESSMENTSince core camp, I have done many things in my position. Before camp, I submitted the class t-shirt design after getting input from the student body. The class officers and I have pre-sold class t-shirts at pow wow and club rush and calculated our shirt orders for the school year. In the past couple of weeks, I helped in the planning of club rush as well as the black light rally. Within the black light rally, I found many of the fashion show candidates for my class and directed them on what clothes to wear. I also was a part of the decorations and posters committees for the black light rally in which we decorated the north gym to look appealing at the rally. After this, I helped set up and clean up at the back-to-school dance in which I put up curtains, set up black lights, and set up tables. Going forward I will begin planning a community service project with the other VPS, and the class officers and I will start to make our approach for homecoming and give out t-shirts. STANDING COMMITTEE I am currently not a part of any standing committees. SPECIAL COMMITTEE I was a part of the decoration and poster committee for the black light rally. Within the poster committee, we came to the storage room before school and helped make posters with paint and glitter for the black light rally. We then put up those posters before the rally to decorate the north gym. Within the decoration committee, I was required to help decorate the north gym outside of just the posters. MENTORSHIP EVALUATION I could not be happier with the way my mentorship is going. I am so grateful for my partner and we have already bonded so much through core camp and the first month of leadership. We’ve already got lunch together and I know this will be an excellent year for us as partners. CONCERNS Something that is concerning me as of right now is the lack of communication and organization within my class. In my class in particular I feel there is a continuous sense of disorganization and it is very unraveling at times. I also am very concerned about the lack of communication going around as I can see that being a massive issue going into homecoming. POSITIVE COMMENT The positive comment I have to give is to Mackenzie Loechler. Mack has shown me and the others in leadership how she will commit herself to making this year as good as possible and how it shall be improved from years before. She has also given me a great person to go to about anything leadership and has greatly helped me throughout this year. CHANGE Something that I would like to see changed in our leadership class right now is people getting to work when they need to. I’m not talking about like doing Morty's assignments and things that only impact themselves; I’m talking about tasks that affect others in the leadership class. It is very angering when some students work very hard on things such as cleaning out spirit boxes, cleaning up after the dance, and just following what their position entails while others are just messing around and not doing what they’re supposed to. It puts more work on those actually working and it makes everything take much longer. MY IMPACT I’ve impacted the world today by stepping up in my leadership program and community. This year I’ve made it my goal to make an even larger impact than last year through everything I do and I have done that so far by signing up and helping in any way I can in leadership whether it be committees, tasks for my junior class, or helping out my fellow leaders in general. I also have joined many clubs and plan to impact this campus the most that I can.
October ASB Report
Devin Fitzpatrick Junior Vice President 16 October 2022 ASB Report October
POSITION ASSESSMENT In the month of September and the first two weeks of October I have done a lot for my position. In the first week of September or so the juniors had a homecoming meeting where we set out our plans for our lip sync, float, window, etc. Following this, I helped Jenna in finding spirit items and props to use for all homecoming events having to do with the class. Also for the pep rally, Kylee and I found fashion show people to represent the junior class. To get the Junior class involved in homecoming I wrote an email for Morty to send out to the juniors inviting them to get involved and I also created a google form and Remind for the junior student body to join. I further established a date with Morty to go to home depot with Jenna and I to purchase the styrofoam that we needed for our float(extra thanks to Morty for transporting the styrofoam). I communicated with those who joined the float committee the building times through text message and Remind as we began building right away. Because the district card was not working the junior officers also held a meeting to reimburse Morty. Furthermore, the Junior class decorated the lemonade stand throughout the month of September. After the night rally music was created I sent it to our lead choreographers and communicated our practice times with the committee. As homecoming approached the Junior Officers made the window and gym decorations which we set up on the Sunday before homecoming and the Monday of homecoming. On Tuesday of homecoming, the junior class and I took part in the lip sync competition, and turned out pretty well. In the week of homecoming, I also gave Lucia reminders on the publicity of the events which she did a really good job on. On Wednesday the junior officers set up the lemonade stand and handed out popsicles and spirit items at lunch. On Thursday I “announced” with Kylee but my microphone wasn’t working so I ended up working the computer. And to end it off the junior class rolled the float through the parade and got a really good reaction from the community. And in the past week, the junior officers just did thank you cards and I assisted with the procedure form. Also, throughout the whole homecoming process, I was also assisting in the coronation committee with the pep rally and powder puff. STANDING COMMITTEE I am currently not a part of any standing committees. SPECIAL COMMITTEE Throughout this past month during homecoming, I was a part of several committees. I was on the coronation committee in which I did the red carpet for the court reveal and announced at the powder puff game. I also was in the window and gym decoration committee, lip sync committee, lemonade stand committee, poster-making committee, and float committee for my class. In the window and gym decoration committee I prepped decorations for the gym and window with my class and showed up on Sunday and early in the morning to set them up. In the lip sync committee, I scheduled practice times, created group chats, created a google form, and assisted in choreography. In the lemonade stand committee, I decorated the lemonade stand with my class along with assisting Jenna in making POs for it. In the poster-making committee, I created posters with my classmates for all events in homecoming. And for the float committee, I scheduled building times, created a google form, helped Jenna in making POs, transported supplies, planned the design of the float with my class, and built the float with my class. MENTORSHIP EVALUATION Still very happy with who my mentorship buddy is. Through the stresses of homecoming I’ve tried to help Ewan wherever he needs it as a lot of homecoming stuff is new to him. We both check in on each other all the time and ask how we are doing every day. We’re trying to plan out a time to workout together and I know we will, we just have to correlate my running schedule and his work schedule. 10/10 mentorship relation. CONCERNS Something that is concerning me as of right now is the wrong assumptions and attitude toward the Junior class right now. In the leadership class, I feel like everybody has come up with assumptions that the Junior class can’t do anything right and are toxic people and it is unfair to do so as these assumptions are based on very little information. If it were people in the junior class it would be different because they actually experience firsthand the atmosphere of the junior class, but it is not. POSITIVE COMMENT The positive comment I have to give is to Ava Brocchini. Ava stepped up so much during homecoming and way above what her job entails. She contributed so much of her time and effort to helping the junior class be successful in homecoming and the junior officers were so grateful for it. Without her help, I know homecoming for the juniors would look completely different and with her work ethic, I could see her having a large role in the class next year. CHANGE Something that I would like to see changed in our leadership class is for future spirit competitions in leadership. I believe that all the classes should be given the rubrics, guidelines, and rules for all the spirit competitions that they are judged on. There have been many times I’ve seen when I’ve been in this program where a class has put forward a creative and incredible work during a competition and then they have been scored very poorly and are left with very little reason. I believe that if we as a class create guidelines and an accurate rubric for all competitions that we do in the future we would for the majority of the time be removed from this confusion as to why a certain class has been judged the way they have been. An additional change that would help improve competitions in the future would be the judges scoring the competitions anonymously, that way the classes could see the scores and how they can improve on them. This change is not as necessary but it would largely remove confusion and anger at the result of a poor score and instead give room for improvement and a growth mindset. MY IMPACT I’ve impacted the world today by putting on a successful homecoming with my other junior class officers for the junior class. Despite lots of adversity I still see a lot of success in the homecoming that the juniors put forth and I know that I was a large part of this. I took part in giving the student body a quality-looking window decoration, lemonade stand, lip sync, and an outstanding float for the whole community to enjoy.
November ASB Report
Devin Fitzpatrick Junior Vice President 16 November 2022 ASB Report November POSITION ASSESSMENT In the month of October and November, I have been very active in my community. The officers and I finished up planning Dude Be Nice and executed it on the week of. This week we promoted gratitude to the Ripon student body and opened up with dressing up for Halloween and trunk or treat. On the second day, we had positive messages written in chalk around campus. On the third day, we had a backdrop for people to take pictures. The Thursday of the week hot chocolate was passed out and to close it off we had a rally revealing our dudette on the last day of it. Following this, I worked more on the VP community service project with my fellow VPS and the casl application. In the Junior Officer group, we have a very good plan going into warm and fuzzy and have already started ordering and planning for Winterfest. I have confidence going into the community service project as well as warm and fuzzy week. DUDE BE NICE For Dude Be Nice week the junior officers created a week full of gratitude to appreciate our high school and the people in our lives. To begin planning the week we held a meeting with Morty to discuss spirit days and activities for those spirit days. Following that, we began ordering gifts for our dudette, Mrs. Van Vuren. In carrying out the week the officers opened up with a trunk or treat event, put up a dude be nice backdrop for pictures, and closed off with a rally to shower our dudette with gratitude. WINTERFEST For Winterfest, the junior officers have made pretty solid plans. We have our shopping cart planned out and have contacted home depot in a request for this cart. We have started ordering spirit items and have our window completely planned out for the most part. We also are putting together ideas for our bleacher decorations and have our paper cut out for them. Our lip sync music is also already being decided on in case we do that and our poster is being planned in case we go with that option. WARM AND FUZZY As of right now our tree is completely planned out and we are ordering it and our pillar is in the process of being planned for decoration. STANDING COMMITTEE - CLASS T SHIRTS During our reselling of class t-shirts, we sold a good amount of our inventory and we have all of them distributed but we still have a lot of inventory left. SPECIAL COMMITTEE - COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT The project we are calling “Grateful for our Origins” is coming upon us and will be ready on the day of launch is the 18th of November. We got in contact with Love Ripon to partner with us in this event. The Love Ripon organization put the projects on their website for volunteers to sign up. We emailed the elementary schools and three of them agreed to take part in it. These three were distributed between us VPs to be in charge of and agreed to certain beautification projects. These projects have been publicized through announcements and Love Ripon and we have high hopes for Friday. SPECIAL COMMITTEE - CASL The Casl project I am a part of is the community service project and as I already said progress on that is going well and should be ready to present to Casl. POSITIVE COMMENT My positive comment for this ASB report is to Kylee Brown. Despite the adversities and everything that has gone on this year Kylee has had an excellent growth mindset this past couple of months and has truly put her best foot forward these past months. Dude be Nice turned out so great and I know it would’ve never been possible without her. CHANGE One change that I would like to see in the future is possibly taking more votes and utilizing motions more often. I feel that there is too much that is agreed upon without any sort of formal vote or motion. I feel like if this is done then it will lead to much less anger over decisions and will help in making better decisions in the future. CONCERN One concern that I have of as of right now is a concern for all of the other class officers in the program as well. I am concerned about the durability and practicality of the paper for the bleachers. I feel that while it is a good and creative idea it does not seem very practical and could lead to a much more negative-looking outcome than could’ve been possibly perceived. The size and the texture of the paper worry me and I hope that they do not break and stay presentable. MY IMPACT I feel that I have had a good impact on my community in the past two months, more than usual per se. Outside of leadership, the Walk was a great success and I felt it truly brought awareness of Ruby Bridges and her message throughout this community leading to the promotion of stopping bullying and racism. I also feel that this community service project that I am doing is largely helping the people of Ripon give back to their community.
December ASB Report
Devin Fitzpatrick Junior Vice President 15 December 2022 ASB Report December POSITION ASSESSMENT Following the past ASB meeting on November 16th, in my position I contributed to finishing up the vp community service project and procedure form. I also was a team leader for door decorating and coordinated measuring and cutting out of the wrapping with my group. I also finished up the casl report with my group and then executed a beautiful looking holiday tree for the holiday tree competition with the other junior officers. Other than that I am working with my officers on winterfest and am getting more into planning for prom. STANDING COMMITTEE I am currently not a part of any standing committees. SPECIAL COMMITTEE Throughout this past month I was a team leader for door wrapping in which I distributed bows and led my team in measuring and making wrapping for our doors if that counts as a special committee. MENTORSHIP EVALUATION My mentoree and I am still doing great as always. I got to hit a great workout with Ewan over thanksgiving break in which I could barely do five push-ups after. Also, hit the cold plunge and sauna after. Mentor seating is always fun but yeah, things are going great as always. CONCERNS Something that is concerning me as of right now is the amount of stressed out and sick people in class right now. I just think the mental health of this class is generally lower than it should be and that during the time period around finals the mental health of the students is not prioritized enough. POSITIVE COMMENT The positive comment I have to give is to the whole freshmen class. After a pretty rough start, the freshmen did a great job with warm and fuzzy and put together a spectacular holiday tree. You can see that they have learned through adversity and as I would say, “proved the haters wrong.” CHANGE This change isn’t necessarily crucial but could be significant to the next years of leadership. I believe we should not make a procedure form required for every class doing a holiday tree. I just believe that it is not necessary as you go from doing procedure forms for weeks full of activities to do a procedure form for a very small operation that is very easy to do. I know my class didn’t have a ton to write about in it so for future years I think it could be considered to not have a procedure form for the holiday trees. MY IMPACT I’ve impacted the world today by prioritizing myself and my goals in life this past month. I have been organizing myself a balanced lifestyle and trying to create myself a life where I am getting the most out of myself. I am therefore positively impacting the world by getting the most out of myself.
February ASB Report
Devin Fitzpatrick Junior Vice President 6 February 2023 ASB Report February POSITION ASSESSMENT Throughout the past month I have been very busy in my position. The Junior Officers and I began the semester early by beginning Winterfest preparation over winter break. We made the layouts for all the decorations and retrieved the shopping cart from Save Mart. Following this we made a schedule for all Winterfest to dos. We began working on Winterfest after school and on the weekends. Along with the other juniors I made sure to communicate in the juniors group chat about practice times and locations. Along with everything Winterfest I also did my public speech for leadership and presented to the school board with my fellow vice presidents on our Grateful For Our Origins project. After winterfest the junior officers also sold class t shirts at the winterfest basketball game and took inventory afterwards. We also cleaned out our spirit box. I also have been working on Valentine’s Day hearts as well as my other special committees. Outside of all of this I also participated in the link crew interview and application process as well as worked on my leadership application for the following year. STANDING COMMITTEE I am currently not a part of any standing committees. SPECIAL COMMITTEE Throughout the past month, I have been a part of the Junior lip sync committee, bleacher decoration committee, shopping cart committee, and window decorating committee. Through these committees I participated in the lip sync and helped organize and coordinate the lip sync as well as coordinated and worked on the bleacher decoration, shopping cart, and window decoration. Along with these, I am a part of the Virtual Jog a Thon Fundraiser, Love Ripon, LDD idea, and the Old to Mini Pillar Project which the other committee members and I have begun working on. MENTORSHIP EVALUATION My mentoree and I are doing quite well after this month. I knew from the day we were paired that we would constantly give each other a hard time but I knew that we would both keep each other on top of things, even though I am the elder. When we are in mentor seating we often both help each other with whatever we are doing whether it’s our websites, leadership assignments, etc. We had an enjoyable lunch that we went to in which we also discussed this particular ASB report. CONCERNS A concern that I have about this class right now is the confusion about the committees in the class. I feel that there are some in this class that are confused about the directions in which they should go to work on this said committee. The committees keep being emphasized to them. I've had some leaders come up to me wondering what they should even do for that committee. POSITIVE COMMENT The positive comment that I am giving this report is dedicated to April Yan. April has done such a great job all year at her position and I think this especially shined during Winterfest as she was the head of a very large week for us and she led us to a successful execution. I also think especially after watching her elder project I saw that although April hasn’t always done extracurriculars such as sports she puts so much effort towards the things she does, such as Leadership and Academics. I really feel she did a great job in this program from when she was here and that is why she is my positive comment. CHANGE A change that I would recommend in the classroom is something for the future, but less activities for Winterfest. Winterfest is supposed to be a scaled down homecoming, not a repeat of it, and I feel when we have four class competitions to do the classes are stretched thin on the competitions and that leads to deteriorated quality. The competitions would be of higher quality if we focussed more on quality over quantity. MY IMPACT I have impacted the world today by serving as a role model on campus and further building my legacy through leadership, link crew, and multicultural club. Through this past month I have been working on applications for both leadership and link crew as I want to continue building my legacy at Ripon High School and continue being a role model for the student body. I also served as a role model, as did all the other junior officers, during Winterfest and working on class competitions. I had to role model a lot during all of these competitions, especially during the lip sync where we had to deal with many individuals outside of the program. And through Multicultural Club I am making sure the club is prepared for the future.
March ASB Report
Devin Fitzpatrick Junior Class Vice President 3/3/23
I have been placed on the fencing committee and the Gift to Students committee. In the fencing committee I am assisting Kade and learning how to run fencing as I will be the successor in fencing and waiting for more work after Rangel responds to our email. In the gift to students committee I am assisting in the planning of the dance and spirit at the dance.
During the week of the challenge I helped Kade and the fencing committee construct an email to Mr. Rangel requesting fencing for the dance. I also helped in planning out the end of the year dance in the Gift to Students committee as we got approval to serve food and found providers for this food.
The week of the challenge I will be in charge of fencing and will execute the lunch time activity.
Some pros I saw during this week of planning was the positive attitude towards the actual challenge and the excitement for things such as the back to school dance during the planning.
Some cons I saw during this week was just the sheer amount of assignments during the actual week. The workload was way higher than usual on top of having to plan a whole spirit week and really I feel there could have been a lot more attention towards the actual challenge week if we weren’t so jammed with work. For future years I think we should give less work outside of the challenge so we can focus more on it and make it even better.
I will be speaking about the food truck, popcorn and snow cone machine for the end of the year dance in the slides presentation.
I overall really like the idea of the challenge and the week we have planned as it looks very fun for the student body.
I believe this class will be successful in executing this week as long as we make sure things are prepared early which I know this class will do.
Those who do not fulfill their jobs should be talked to about it in evaluations and should be rewarded with a lower evaluation score. They also should be helped by other leaders to be more motivated and disciplined during weeks of importance like this.
My favorite aspect of this event is definitely the end of the year dance and I am very excited as it is looking even better than last year with carnival games and a taco truck should draw great attendance.
May ASB Report
Devin Fitzpatrick Junior President 8 May 2023 POSITION ASSESSMENT Throughout the past months the junior officers and I have been busy with Prom. We had been largely strategizing this from the start of the semester when it came to hiring a decorator, contacting the venue, visiting the venue, contacting the DJ, tasting the food, ordering tassels and a bunch of other stuff. Overall, I really didn’t have many issues at the event except for the fact that someone decided to do this spraying thing in the whole area which caused the mosquitoes to be vicious. The spraying thing would kill all the mosquitoes by a couple weeks out but just made them come out on the day of prom. But good thing we went to the venue ahead of time so we could publicize that and also provide a little portion of bug spray. But got pretty good reviews from the student body about the dance I felt. Other than that I’ve worked on the challenge in my committee, went to love ripon of course, have been working on the pipes with Kade when I can. STANDING COMMITTEE I am currently not a part of any standing committees. SPECIAL COMMITTEE Throughout these past months I have been a part of the love ripon committee and the pvc pipe committee. In love with Ripon I just helped David in communicating and working the day and for pvc pipe we have been working progressively to cut the piping. MENTORSHIP EVALUATION My mentoree and I are doing pretty well as usual. Claire Morris is just one of those people where it’s so fun to drive them insane along with Mackenzie and others. Sometimes I feel like she’s the real mentor in the relationship but I’m glad she is. Also it has been super fun with my little time with Elias as my mentor. CONCERNS A concern that I have is that there is too much talking during non-work days when others are talking. It can become a little disrespectful to whoever’s speaking and should be advised against for the rest of the year. POSITIVE COMMENT The positive comment that I am giving to in this report is to Jenna and Lucia. Jenna and Lucia and I have gone through a lot this year but I’m so grateful for their working relationships and everything that we do together. They did such a great job for prom and I’m so grateful for them. CHANGE A change that I would recommend for the future isn’t really like a bad thing for the class necessarily, more of what I saw that my officer team and I could’ve done to make prom even more special and that is to bring back the photo booth that we had last year for prom. So this is more for a recommendation to the next junior class officers. MY IMPACT I have impacted the world today by bringing the upperclassmen a successful prom with my junior officer team. This officer team has gone through so much this year and at this point we’re interbonded by what we’ve been through. I’m so appreciative to be able to work with them and couldn’t ask for better people to work with. I felt especially with the adversity we faced we put on a real great prom for the upperclassmen to remember once they graduate.
