Devin Fitzpatrick Athletics Commissioner 17 August 2023 ASB Report August POSITION ASSESSMENT Throughout the past months I have been busy as Athletics Commissioner. My team and I have largely been planning the Welcome Back Rally through things such as contacting superfan, coordinating the script with rally, ordering a fog machine, etc. Along with this we have also begun the planning and process of beginning powder puff. We will have a table at club rush for it and will begin contacting Musseman shortly. We also will do our first athlete of the month in a week. And personally I have been busy with pipes as well. STANDING COMMITTEE I am currently not a part of any standing committees. SPECIAL COMMITTEE Throughout the first couple months of leadership I have been in charge of the pvc pipe committee. Within this committee I have requested pipe cutters so far as well as reorganized the pipes and requested volunteers to help out. MENTORSHIP EVALUATION My mentees and I are doing well. I’ve been helping Colt and Marcus with their websites and leadership in general as they are both new to the program. I’m happy to be with them and glad I get to be their mentor throughout this school year. Also adopt Ricky every once in a while. CONCERNS A concern that I have is something that we are doing our best with and it’s not anybody’s fault. I’m a little concerned with the lack of room we have within our classroom. It can be more difficult to get things done with the lack of space or work with our job positions. But Morty is working to get us the library back so it’s okay. POSITIVE COMMENT The positive comment that I am giving to in this report is to the senior officer team. The senior officers have done a very great job especially for the fact the majority of them have never been officers before. I’m very impressed with what they have done thus far and I’m excited to see what they do the rest of the year. CHANGE A change that I would recommend for the class is just the addition of more days sitting with our job positions. I know for my team it would be very beneficial to be able to sit together and work on the stuff we need to work on for our position. MY IMPACT I have impacted the world today by applying myself fully and building a large legacy before I leave in May. I’d like to leave a very positive legacy in this community and want people to look up to me as I progress towards going to college.
September ASB Report
Devin Fitzpatrick Athletics Commissioner 26 September 2023 ASB Report September POSITION ASSESSMENT Throughout the past months I have been busy as Athletics Commissioner. My team and I have largely been occupied by one of our biggest events of the year: powder puff. This has been a very extensive and complex process and my officers and I have been busy with running practices, publicizing the event, contacting those needed to support the event, along with much more. We also executed our second athletes of the month with Sami Reading and Jonny Salinas. STANDING COMMITTEE I am currently not a part of any standing committees. SPECIAL COMMITTEE Throughout this past month I have been apart of the spotlight, powder puff, and float building special committees. Through spotlight I have been doing athlete of the month with my fellow athletics commissioners as well as various things for powder puff. And I have also have offered my support in helping build the float for my class. MENTORSHIP EVALUATION My mentees and I are doing great. I feel very comfortable with them and during the goal mentor assignment we were all laughing and having a good time. I’m glad that I got paired with them. CONCERNS A concern that I have is the amount of time that we have in 7th period to work with our jobs. I know most of the work for leadership is done outside of 7th period and that is how it has always been but last year I felt we had a lot more time with our job positions and just being able to be with your job positions in person seems to really help the process of doing your job. This year it seems the majority of our time is spent doing in class assignments which are important, but I feel there should be a balance. POSITIVE COMMENT The positive comment that I am giving to in this report is to Eric and Addyson. They’ve done such great jobs at athletics especially for being only first years. I’m so glad to have them on my team and to help me balance the load. CHANGE A change that I would recommend for the class is a very simple change and not super crucial but might as well mention it. The people that keep hogging the couch (Gideon*) should not be allowed to use the couch as much as they restrict others from using it. Just putting it out there. CORE PRINCIPLES Throughout these past months I feel I’ve followed our core principles fairly well. I have been impeccable as well as valuing my puzzle piece and such. I also feel I’ve been evolving through change but I could use some work on empowerment. Sometimes I find it hard when I feel not great to empower others and I will aim to improve that the next coming months. MY IMPACT I have impacted the world today by pushing myself to reach my highest potential. I’m striving to be better everyday and prepare myself for the future and by doing so I am making the others around me better.
December ASB Report
Devin Fitzpatrick Athletics Commissioner 11 December 2023
POSITION ASSESSMENT These past months have been a lot less busy for athletics than when we last previously reported but we still have been completing tasks. After executing powder puff during homecoming, which I personally felt turned out to be great, we had to collect all of the powder puff jerseys and take inventory to make sure we had them all, in which we did, as well as washing them. We also have been busy nominating athletes of the month in which we nominated our first freshman. And we also have updated the plaques, in which I reached out to the trophy shop and filled out a po for it, and had to make multiple trips to her house because she could not remember to have the plaques ready. STANDING COMMITTEE I am currently not a part of any standing committees. SPECIAL COMMITTEE Throughout this past month I have been a part of the spotlight and holiday door decorating committee. Within the spotlight committee I have worked with my fellow athletics commissioners to nominate athletes of the month to be recognized on the ASB instagram. And in the holiday door decorating committee I worked with my menteees, Colt and Marcus on decorating and putting up our door posters. MENTORSHIP EVALUATION My mentees and I are doing great. The poster decorating project went very well for our teachers and I felt worked productively and diligently on this project. CONCERNS A concern that I have is the lack of dressing up in our class. I feel there is not as much emphasis put on it by my classmates as some years which isn’t a good look to the rest of the student body. POSITIVE COMMENT The positive comment that I am giving in this report is to Payton. She has been doing such a great job as ASB VP and has been an excellent leader and role model to those in class that want to be great leaders. I’m so glad to see how well she is doing. I also would like to positively comment on the new weekly accomplishments, I feel great improvements have been made and it’s a lot better. CHANGE A change that I would recommend for the class is more days in the library if possible. I feel like it allows for a more collaborative class experience and one in which work can be done easier because we have tables to work at. MY IMPACT I have impacted the world today by pushing myself to be the best version of myself and striving to achieve the goals that I’ve set for myself. By doing this I am making those who are close with me better as they are making me better as well. This is my impact. Core Principles I have fulfilled my core principles well throughout the past couple months. I have been impeccable with being my true self, as well as empowering others to do well. I’ve also known that my puzzle piece has mattered and the last one has been the most difficult with college applications and finals but I feel I’ve been doing my best to evolve and grow with change.
January ASB Report
Devin Fitzpatrick Athletics Commissioner 30 January 2024 ASB Report January POSITION ASSESSMENTThese past months have been filled with the start of planning our last big event in dodgeball. We have retrieved the rulebook from the past year and have had our first meeting with Mr. Perez to make a plan and change things based on how last year’s week commenced. We are currently working on an email to send out to the school for captains to sign up their teams and have set a date for a meeting with these captains. Besides this we have done our Athlete of the Month as usual. STANDING COMMITTEE The spotlight committee has gone fairly well this past month but could’ve been better as we have been better in the past, but we will look at this month as a month to improve off of. I’m specifically talking about our athletes of the month specifically as Morty got them the morning after the deadline which is not what we strive for but we clarified what to do in the future. SPECIAL COMMITTEE Throughout this past month I have been a part of the Fundraising for Spring Almond Blossom Parking committee in which I signed up to help that Saturday afternoon and have been planning on creating the dodgeball cleanup committee for after games. MENTORSHIP EVALUATION My mentees and I are doing good as always. I liked the way our board turned out and we seem to have really good chemistry on these types of projects which is good to see as that might not always be present. CONCERNS A concern that I have is that sometimes the people in class seem to miss the message of Morty’s lessons. People seem to be taking things personally and defensive when the real motive for these lessons is to get one’s mind to think. POSITIVE COMMENT The positive comment that I am giving in this report is to Alizeh. Honestly this is more about her contribution not just in leadership but outside of it as well. She seems to put her best foot forward in everything that she does which is very impressive and something that’s very hard to match. CHANGE A change that I would recommend for the class is that the productive people who actually utilize work days and find them very helpful shouldn’t suffer for the people that are willing to let their grades drop and not do their jobs. It should come down on them, not others. MY IMPACT I have made an impact today by doing my best to finish out my extracurricular strong in my last semester at RHS. I hope I am leaving the best possible legacy in my activities whether that be Multicultural Acceptance Club, Track, Leadership and many other things, by finishing out this semester strong with my contribution. Core Principles I have fulfilled my core principles.
March ASB Report
Devin Fitzpatrick Athletics Commissioner 21 March 2024 ASB Report March POSITION ASSESSMENTThese past two months have been for the majority based on work for the event of the dodgeball tournament. We began planning dodgeball in very early February/late January with Mr. Perez and rewrote rules, set dates, etc. My team and I further began publicizing sign-ups for the tournament in early February as well as the entire tournament. We further met with our signed-up teams on March 1st and began communicating with them about game dates, preparation, etc. After retrieving balls from Velasco, getting refs, and setting up brackets we began our tournament. I played a big part in reffing throughout the week as well as sending out Reminds to the team. Aside from dodgeball Athletics also worked on our athletes of the month. STANDING COMMITTEE The spotlight committee has gone fairly well these past months. We are looking for ways to expand spotlights such as how we did the videos in a past month. SPECIAL COMMITTEE Throughout this past month I have been a part of the gift to staff committee for the challenge, and the Gallery of the Arts committee. In the gift to staff committee I filled out the purchase order for our gifts, for example mugs. In the gallery of the arts committee I worked to set up the entire event as well as clean up for it. MENTORSHIP EVALUATION My mentees and I are doing good as always. We worked just fine on the Five Dysfunctions and the letter felt nice to do. CONCERNS A concern that I have is that there is quite a lot of hypocrisy in the class right now. We’ll have class discussions, which are always of benefit, and I will consistently see people talk about topics that directly contradict their past actions. POSITIVE COMMENT The positive comment that I am giving in this report is to Deep. Deep is going through a lot right now with things that are out of his control, specifically the issues that the District gives him by giving him defective computers that lose all of his work. Despite this, he works even harder than before to put out a good End of the Year video. Deep is one of the most diligent people I know, and I know he’s going to do such great things in the future. CHANGE A change that I would recommend for the class is that the self-reported evaluations should be abolished or reconstructed. This is a really minor part of a larger change I would like to see for the class in that I don’t like the fake personas being posed towards the people not doing any work. We should be honest about our feelings about these people’s contributions and not act as if everything is completely fine when they don’t do anything. Voicing our opinions is key in this situation. And I will say I’m pretty upset to see people who work half or less than that, as hard as I do and giving themselves high As on their evaluations. I believe that this self graded evaluation comes at a bad time because in 3rd quarter we have quite a lot of people who think that because elections are over or college decisions have released, they don’t have to do anything. And they don’t even get punished for it because they score themselves on their evaluation. MY IMPACT I have made an impact today by trying my hardest to build a great future for myself and therefore empowering others to make a great future for themselves. Core Principles I have fulfilled my core principles this month pretty well by being impeccable in my work, understanding I matter in the universe, empowering others to do well, and growing with the change I am experiencing with college admissions.
